A few years back, a friend of mine went to a wedding in Sedona. I didn’t know much about the area or even how to get there. One thing was for certain. The photos were gorgeous. The red rock formations were just stunning. Sedona is closest to Phoenix, so I planned my next long weekend to the area. In researching resorts, there are a number of options. Enchantment Resort and particularly the Mii Amo spa do get a lot of press. The location is perfect and the backdrop was just what I envisioned. Below, I want to give you my full review of this resort.
I found the Enchantment Resort through Fine Hotels & Resorts with Amex. We booked our stay through their website. This allowed us breakfast both mornings of our stay in addition to early check in and late check out. Enchantment Resort is on the same grounds as Mii Amo, which is a destination spa. They offer different journeys through their website of varying time frames such as 3, 4, and 7 nights. This did not work for our needs, but you are still able to book services at the Mii Amo spa when you stay at Enchantment.
I would really describe this property as a compound. It is utterly massive. We arrived very late and were guided to our room. You are able to park your vehicle just outside your room, which is helpful due to the size of the resort. Our room was very spacious with two double beds. On the other side of the beds was a seating area with couch, coffee table, tv, and an electric fireplace. There was also a small patio as well with sliding glass doors. The bathroom was very large in size. While I have no complaints about the size of the room, I felt that the room appeared rather dated. It was not particularly my taste, and it looked like it may be time for a slight facelift.
In the morning, they deliver fresh orange juice to your door. It seemed a nice well thought touch. Once we got outside, we were able to see how gorgeous the property really is with beautiful scenery providing the backdrop. There are two restaurants to choose from for breakfast. The first day we tried the restaurant with Enchantment and the second day, as we had spa services planned, we tried the restaurant at Mii Amo. If you are looking for a lot of food and many options, I would try the restaurant at Enchantment. If they have the shades up, there are incredible views. Enjoying a glass of wine here at sunset is a great way to end the evening as well. Mii Amo provided a much healthier food variety, which goes along with their wellness mission.
On the Enchantment website, they provide you with many options of things to do. The property has a beautiful pool and hot tub just outside and down the stairs from their restaurant. Mii Amo has its own pool as well. There are tennis courts and many options for hiking trails. The trails stemming from the property and also those within Sedona are pretty well marked along with their difficulty level. We asked the concierge for some last minute clarifications as well.
Consider the time of year when you make your trip. We visited during February, and it turned out much colder than I expected. It even drizzled a tiny amount of snow during one of our two days. I was shocked. This weather left us missing out on utilizing the outdoor pools. Since Sedona is a fantastic place for gorgeous hikes, make sure that you pack appropriately if hiking is on your agenda with layering pieces and sturdy footwear.
If relaxation is your goal, I would encourage a visit to their spa. They have a pretty extensive facility that was relatively crowded when we were there. Once you enter, you can walk down the main hallway to your left. You will notice a shallow indoor pool. In that same area is a massive fireplace and cozy couches to sit on. Outside the large windows lies the outdoor pool and hot tub. Inside the locker room, you can enjoy the standard steam room and sauna offerings. The hot tub in the female locker room was “out of order” during my visit to the spa. My spa service was for a therapeutic massage. Compared to the many massages of my past, I thought the therapist did a wonderful job and was very skilled.
All in all, we spent a relaxing weekend enjoying the resort and spa facilities. The only time we left the property was to go on a daily hike and to dinner. We arrived Friday evening and left on Monday mid morning. Consider Sedona as a destination for your next long weekend!
